The curling broom, or brush, is used to sweep the ice surface in

the path of the stone (see sweeping) and

is also often used as a balancing aid during delivery of the stone.

Curling broom is divided into three parts as follows:

1. Shaft: It is the long metallic "handle" part of the broom which greatly varies on three factors:

2. Head / Brush Head: The plastic part of the broom at the             end of the shaft that holds the pads in place is known as                the brush head

3. Pad: This is the cloth-like fabric on the broom's head that        touches the ice. This fabric helps retain the heat              generated from the friction of sweeping and insulating                 it back down onto the ice.

Curling can be enjoyed by nearly all age groups for social play as well as high-level competition

such as the annual world championships and Olympic Games.

Curling awareness has increased dramatically since the Olympic Games in Torino, Italy in 2006

where media coverage of the sport increased in the United States and Canada.

With the 2018 games complete, many teams are preparing for competition in the Winter Games in 2022
